The HTC magic is a slam dunk in the world of cell phones. This phone is just as HTC says it is; “simply better”. Take a minute and check out the features of this phone with the popular android operating system.

HTC Magic

The first thing that people say about this phone is that they either like the looks or hate it. You need to make up your own mind on that part. The screen is 3.2 inches and you have an on-screen keyboard. The HTC Magic came out in February of 2009 and still has the LCD screen as opposed to the newer OLED screens. Nevertheless it is has good resolution for an LCD screen of its size and is rated for HVGA.

The phone is good for those who like to use just one hand on their phone. The trackball interface that comes with the phone allows you to keep one hand free while scrolling through the applications. You get your choice of two colors; white or black. The cover is created with plastic. It holds up against smudges fairly well even in the black model.

The camera is a 3.2 megapixel version. This is sufficient power for many photos, but not enough clarity to match some other popular phones like the google phone and some from Nokia. It does have video and you can upload them to youtube from the phone.

The “darling” of the HTC Magic is of course it unique operating system made by google, the search engine. Major updates will hopefully be added in the future, as this phone can not handle much with the somewhat lackadaisical 528 megahertz processor. A few years ago, that would have been enough for a powerful smartphone, but not today, and not with this operating system. Speaking of hardware specifications, the HTC Magic also comes with 192 megabytes of RAM ( Random Access Memory ), and 512 megabytes of bundled storage. You can expand this with a MicroSD card, like many smartphones. This smartphone includes instant messaging from Windows Live, Yahoo, AOL and of course Google Talk. Google Maps with Street View is included as a part of android.

With all the new bells and whistles, you still have a phone to make calls with. You also have Wi-Fi capability and bluetooth. You are thankfully provided with a micro USB connector so you can communicate with your other digital devices. The web browser is based on WebKit. This is a browser similar to Safari and is high quality. This phone is a great improvment over the G1, the very first android phone.

The latest offering from Apple has the iPhone updated to a faster and a bit leaner design. What are the latest updates to the iPhone ? Check it out here in this review article on the new iPhone, the 3GS.

You may not have noticed it but the new iPhone 3GS weighs just a bit less than the older iPhones. This is a big strange since the newer 3GS is also larger than its predecessor. But the basic dimensions are hardly a difference that can be noticed. The newer model iPhone is just a millimeter thicker than the earlier models. The screen has more performance with the 3G S, but the size has not changed. The latest model has a screen that reveals an impressive 16.7 million colors. This makes the screen much more life-like and videos and photos are rendered more naturally.

Apple iPhone 3Gs

One setback for the iPhone 3G S with its new abilities is that the battery is drained faster than the older models. The 600 Megahertz processor is hungry for power and drains the battery faster than usual. The old iPhone had a talktime of eight hours, the newer model can handle just five hours of talk time. This may mean you will need to carry an extra battery with you. If this is unacceptable there are extended life batteries available that will help with the short talk time. 600 Megahertz is becoming a normal speed for mobile devices these days so battery technology will need to catch up soon.

This new iPhone has twice the memory of the older model with 32 Gigabytes available to use. The internal memory is available for you to use for storage and comes in handy for photos and music. The iPhone 3G S can handle many more networks than the past models. The GSM modes include 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 networks. In addition it can also handle WCDMA 850, 1900 and 2100 networks. The older model could only handle the GSM modes.

There is no doubt you are going to enjoy this new iPhone 3GS. With twice as much memory as before you may never fill it up. The popularity of this phone has not died down since it was introduced back in 2007 by Apple. Take a look at this new iPhone as it has the same popular operating system and features, but this time around it can do more than ever.

If you happen to be getting tired of seeing the iPhone there is something you should see. It is called the Palm Pre. Palm has pretty much placed it all on the line with the advent of this smartphone. Perhaps we should call the Palm Pre the “super” smartphone. Take a look at this review and see what you think.

The Palm Pre looks great. It feels great. When you slip it into your pocket it just “feels right”. Okay, with all the feel good stuff aside, how does this smartphone perform ? In a word, spectacular. With a screen that is better than the iPhone and apps that operate easier than the Apple contender, you are just scratching the surface of the abilities of the Palm Pre.

Palm Pre

This is the first phone from Palm to use the new WebOS platform. This is definitely one of the first review topics for the Palm Pre. The operating system is undoubtedly a winner. Palm has gone all out and made something that you can use and use and use some more. You will like how you can take your contacts from Facebook and install them into the Pre. Then you will like it again when you do the same with google. The transition will be seamless. Thoughtful planning went into this smartphone and you can feel it when you use it. The email notifications are easily noticed, but not obtrusive. Another word to describe the capabilities of the Palm Pre is “accomplished”. Palm has beaten the google Android and all is well.

Some other great features of the Palm Pre include the fact that it runs in CDMA ( 850 and 1900 ) mode. Sprint has been chosen to use this smartphone on their network. The form factor is called “slide” for the QWERTY board that slides out. The keys are a bit small for the average male, but not overly so. The tactile feedback for the keyboard is a bit lacking also. Otherwise, the Palm Pre feels like a well-rounded rock in your hand and in your pocket.

A strong asset for the Palm is the ability to multi-task. If this is you, take a closer look at this offering from Palm. If you are not a multi-tasker, you will still enjoy the fact that your Palm will not slow down simply because you open more than a few apps at the same time. The camera has a three Megapixel level and takes average photos. Overall this smartphone is a home run in the technical department and in design also. There are some very good deals at the moment on prices so you may find yourself taking one ( or two ) home with you.

Get ready for some fun because Nokia is pulling out all the stops. The rumors are no more rumors because the Nokia N900 is slated to be with us sometime before the end of the year. Read this review to see what has been taking place with this great new smartphone.

Nokia N900

The N900 is also called the Rover or the RX-51. It has a brand new killer operating system made by Maemo, which is made by Linux. The operating system is called Maemo 5 and during development was named “Fremantle”. What does this Android-killer do ? For starters, it comes with a browser from the same people who make Firefox. Firefox is the most popular internet browser. The N900 Rover has a regular hardware keyboard, but you have one more on the screen using Maemo if you prefer to use it. The screen is delightfully responsive and is the resistive touch variety, not the capacitive touch that the Apple products have. One feature of the Maemo operating system is you can keep track of everyone at Facebook with one glance at the N900. Copy and past is allowed in all menus.

The hardware is of good quality with the N900. Nokia has given this device a nice keyboard. It is a full QWERTY keyboard and extends from the side, not from the bottom. This is a great choice, because it gives you more room to type. The keyboard also comes with directional buttons ( arrows ) just like your laptop or home PC. If you were wondering, yes this device is a true mobile computing device that also happens to make phone calls. The processor runs at 600 Megahertz and with the magnitude of memory on board you will not be disappointed with the performance. The N900 has 32 Gigabytes of built-in storage, and 48 Gigabytes of storage available with a MicroSD card.

The camera in the Nokia N900 is of good quality. It weighs in at five Megapixels and includes video. The lens uses the famous Carl Zeiss optics and has a lens cover to protect it. This is a great option to help prevent the scratching of the lens. It uses a Micro USB connection for charging. The networks available to this smartphone are GPRS, GSM and HSPA ( data, no voice ). A sim slot is included. A 1320 Milliamp hour ( mAH ) removable battery sparks up the machine.

Once you are bitten by the performance of the operating system of the N900 there is no going back to the other so-called “smart” phones. This one is smarter than yours. If you are a power mobile user, there is no doubt that a N900 ( or something like it ) is in your future.

Have you been waiting for a smartphone that is actually “smart”? You need to take a look at the Nokia N900. Here in this quick review we will talk about the N900 and its great features and abilities.

The Nokia N900 for now comes in basic black. It goes by other names such as Rover and and RX-51. It looks inconspicuous enough when you are not using it. That all ends when you turn it on. It has an operating system that equals or surpasses what you may be using right now. This operating system is the one thing you will not be able to miss with this wonderful little super smartphone. Linux makes the software and Maemo 5 is the name for this particular version of Linux. One feature of this device is that you can see all your contacts at Facebook with one glance. You can copy and paste. You can browse the web with Mozilla. Mozilla is the name of the folks who made Firefox. You can have a myriad amount of pages open with the N900 and not have to worry about crashing it. With lots of windows open you can still slide out the keyboard and fire off some text messages or some instant messages. It will still hold up. Text messaging and instant messaging can be shown in one page. You can see everything and have have complete and easy control over your connections.

Nokia N900

The Nokia N900 is good with photos. It comes with a five megapixel camera and a lens that is fortified with Carl Zeiss optics. The Maemo 5 software produces a “tag cloud” user interface that helps get the most out of your photos. The camera also comes with a lens cover, an important element for any smartphone. The camera can also shoot video.

Before we forget, the N900 also makes phone calls. It works with quad-band GSM/EDGE and with 900/1700/2100MHz WCDMA/HSPA. The HSPA is data only, no voice. There is Wi-Fi and bluetooth to boot. One very nice option is the FM transmitter that is included. You can take the Rover in your car and broadcast your music to your radio. It will probably be run on the T-Mobile networks.

If you were disappointed in the Nokia N97, this model will cure your pain. It has lots more memory and literally springs into action with your commands. It is cheaper to boot. The target release is for October, but you can pre-order now. The folks at Nokia describe themselves as the pioneer in mobile communications. You better believe it with the Nokia N900.

Sony Ericsson claims that they created the first ever 12 Mp camera phone; the Sony Ericsson Satio (a.k.a. Idou). It is perfected to deliver top caliber mobile performance and incredible multimedia processing.

Sony Ericsson Satio

Sony Ericsson Satio comes armed with 12 megapixel auto-focus camera with Xenon and LED flash, which gives excellent lighting both for bright lights and low lights. This camera is equipped with the popular Sony digital camera features like; geotagging, face and smile detection, Smile Shot and Smart contrast. The primary camera can also record high quality 30fps videos. It also has a secondary phone for video calling.

Sony Ericsson Satio only measures 112 x 55 x 13 mm and weights 126gms, which makes with perfectly comfortable to the hands grip. It has a 3.5 inch, 16M-color touch sensitive screen that displays 16:9 color ratio, which produces sharp and vibrant images. There are three narrow keys just below the screen; the two keys on the side are used for call and end call, and the menu key in the middle. This mobile runs with the Symbian S60 5th Edition touch UI, which is a much better version of the previous Symbian OS. Sony customized the Symbian OS for Satio so you will see the much familiar Sony Ericsson home screen display.

Just like the previous Sony Ericsson high end phones, Satio have the familiar Media Center for your photos, music, games and videos. The image gallery displays a timeline view of your photos which allows the photos to slide from left to right for a more great viewing experience. The Walkman Music Player displays the “Now Playing” screen with thumbable control keys. Although there is a limitation in the Satio Video player, it still delivers high quality video viewing. And for the gamers out there, Sony has embedded Java games on the phone, plus you can download more if you want. What’s great about this is that Satio has a 3d Graphic Accelerator for you to enjoy playing those games more.

Of course your multimedia wouldn’t be complete without web browsing. Satio boasts fast WiFi connection and is 3g capable. Plus for you to enjoy your internet surfing more, Satio web browser comes with a full Flash and Flash video support. It also has Bluetooth and WAP connectivity, FM radio with RDS and USB 2.0 port.

Another great Sony Ericsson Satio feature is its huge external memory expansion. Although Satio only has 128 Mb of internal memory, it has a microSD card slot that supports up to 32Gb of memory. Enough space to store all your photos, music and files.

Although Sony Ericsson Satio (a.k.a . Idou) took a lot of time before it was released, the promises were fulfilled and the expectations were met. Sony Ericsson is definitely one of the toughest contenders when it comes to mobile technology. And Sony Ericsson Satio is definitely something worth waiting for.

Who needs a digital camera when you can have a 12megapixel auto-focus camera phone equipped with Power LED and xenon flash plus a 28mm wide angle lens? Did I happen to mention that it is a Touchscreen mobile phone?

Samsung M8910 Pixon12

Samsung took a big step when they released their newest high-end mobile creation, Samsung M8910 Pixon12. It is the first 12 megapixel camera phone available for public purchase. Moreover, Samsung promises that this is the Ultimate all-in-one mobile device that will keep you connected and organized without holding back the fun.

Samsung M8910 Pixon12 fronts a revolutionary 3.1 inches black glass, resistive AMOLED touchscreen with 480×800 pixels and 16M colors. It comes with the latest and newest TouchWiz UI 2.0, which is highly responsive. Below the screen are three hardware controls, the call and end key and the menu button in the center. The left side of the phone hosts the memory card slot and the Lock (hardware) key. While the volume rocker, camera launcher and shutter keys are all together on the right side of the Pixon12. On the top part is the protected microUSB port use as charger and headset slot. Measuring 108 x 53 x 13.8 mm, the Pixon12 fits the hand perfectly and just weighting 120g, it is indeed a convenient and handy camera phone. This comes in sleek black matte finished to avoid finger printing plus it has a chrome lining on the side which makes it quite sophisticated.

The Samsung M8910 Pixon12 main menu features sweep scroll control which displays 3D view of its multi tasking applications. Of course it has multimedia features and Samsung rocks these features a little bit. The music player has a new “5.1 ch” button, which emulate the best “5.1 ch” sound on normal stereo headset. Its FM radio features RDS, which display the station name in one row and additional information on the other. Plus station frequencies are retuned automatically and it has music recognition called FindMusic, which is pretty much like TrackID. And its new video player supports DivX and XviD, meaning you don’t need to convert video format anymore. Web browsing is guaranteed the fastest, with its HSDPA speed of 7.2Mbps and gives you a fullscreen view mode. It is also WLan enabled and has a WiFi manager that makes accessing your list easy. Plus its GPS navigation comes preinstalled with a full-fledged SatNav solution.

Of course it has ordinary phone features like Bluetooth, Organizer and Calendar, secondary videocall camera and Java games. It also comes with new widgets like the AccuWeather, Quit Smoking and GoDiet. Plus it has 150 Mb of internal memory that you can expand for up to 16Gb with a micro SD card.

Samsung M8910 Pixon12 features are highly impressive especially its 12 megapixel camera that produces top caliber images. But cutting edge technology doesn’t come cheap, so expect a high price tag on this one.

Who would have thought that the next best thing for mobile phone is a transparent crystal keypad? Well the LG engineers sure did. This see through keypad is framed with polished metal and etched with numbers and letters just like what you see on ordinary keypad. Plus it glows with blue light which makes it more impressive and unique.

LG-GD900 Crystal Review

This eye catching phone promises great mobile features beyond its touch sensitive see-through keypad. With its 105 x 52.5 x 13.5 mm built, LG crystal fronts a 3 inch 16m colors, QVGA touch screen. This screen is highly sensitive and responsive to touch and has multi-touch gesture like pinch-to-zoom and gesture shortcuts, which gives you fast access to the main menu and applications. Just like the previous LG phones this phone uses the S-class UI but with better response to graphic acceleration. Another eye catching feature of LG Crystal is the 3D interactive element called the CUBE that gives a nice view of the applications homescreen.

LG Crystal also features a primary 8 megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash which can give you high quality and sharp pictures. There are added features in the camera, like the virtual shutter key found in the right hand side of the screen, you can slide this to switch camera mode from still to video camera. Another improvement is the manual focus that can work by dragging the on-screen virtual slider. Plus the camera can also record 30fps videos with 720×480 pixel resolution. It also has a secondary camera which you can use for video calling.

LG Crystal also has mp3 player which shows music tracks on a rotating reel that imitates virtual vinyl records. Plus you can watch DivX/Xvid and mp4 format videos with its video player. And with its Dolby Mobile that can give pure surround sound and richer sound effects, listening to your favorite music and watching videos is definitely a great experience with LG Crystal. For web browsing, this phone has GPRS, WiFi and 3g connectivity. It also has TV out jack, Bluetooth and universal USB port located in the right side of the phone. And it has a 1.5gb of internal memory that you can expand up to 16gb using microSD card, which can hold lots of downloadable java games.

After launching their newest mobile creation, LG-GD 900, one thing is definitely for sure, LG Electronics has strengthened its hold on being one of the biggest player in the mobile industry. And that they have created a new fashion statement for high end mobile.

NOKIA released an 8mp camera phone as an answer to the phones recently released by its contenders. It is better late than never and the Finnish promises that “the wait is definitely worth it”.

Nokia N86

Nokia N86 8MP is sporting an 8 mega pixel camera with dual LED flash, auto focus and the 28mm CARL Zeiss wide angle lens, which is the first in mobile technology. This wide angle lens will give you 20% more angle view, thus it is great in taking landscape and architecture photos. Another great feature of this camera is its mechanical shutter and variable aperture. This feature automatically detects the proper effects to use when taking pictures, should it use more light or sharpness, depending on the lighting condition. Plus this camera phone can also record 30fps video clips with 640 x 480 pixel resolution. You will definitely love its kickstand around the camera which automatically launch image gallery once you flip it out. You could actually change its setting if you prefer to watch videos instead of looking at your pictures.

Nokia N86 8MP has 2.6 inch AMOLED screen and a dual slide form. It also boasts its scratch resistant surface and accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate. Another great feature of this phone is that it has 8 gb internal memory, great for saving all the photos you captured with your 8mp camera. Plus you can expand your memory with a micro SD card for up to 16 gb, enough to store videos, applications and songs.

It has Multimedia player that supports MPEG4, 3PG, H.263, H.264, MP3, WMA and AAC file types. There is also the FM radio with FM transmitter which allows you to play back over wirelessly. This 3.5 g phone has dual-band HSDPA and quad-band GSM and WIFI. It is also GPS capable with Nokia maps and digital compass. It is also packed with the commonly used connectivity, such as Bluetooth V2.0, micro USB, 3.5mm audio jack and TV out. And don’t forget about its secondary camera that can be use for video calling. Another plus factor for this smart phone is that it has N-Gage software support plus free N-Gage games, which is a steal for the gamers out there. Nokia N86 also run with Symbian S60 OS which comes with built in applications like Zip manager, email client, document viewer and a web browser that supports Flash and Java. The unit comes in white and indigo black colors.

Nokia N86 8MP is quite a great device, with lots of features and some evolution from previous NOKIA N-series. Although revolution wise it’s not that much, still its 8 mega pixel camera and new 28mm wide angle combination is something to try out and look forward to.
