The HP Pavilion dv6 1230us which is valued at $799.99 is an amalgamation of two laptops. First off, it’s a meek laptop with enough processing power to function with the basic tasks expected of an entertainment laptop. Secondly, it features the entire ostentatious exterior that has become the trademark of all HP’s Pavilion line of laptops. It has an attractive black lacquered finish and is interiorly designed using silver circles that tend to bubble towards the laptop’s corner. Although the shiny black design picks up fingerprints easily, it has an overall cool effect.

HP Pavilion dv6 1230us

The HP Pavilion dv6 1230us has a gigantic 12-cell lithium-ion battery, making the laptop a bit heavy as it weighs 7.1 pounds although when compared to laptops like Aspire 6930G-6723 (7.2 pounds) and Gateway MC7803u (7.7 pounds), its lighter and more attractive. The laptop’s Brightview Infinity 16:9 widescreen measures 15.6”, with a resolution of 1366 x 768px., has a DVD +/- R/RW drive, a card reader and a mini remote that comes in handy when you want to connect the laptop to a TV set to show videos or/and photos. It also features 4 USB ports, a VGA port, HDMI port and an Express Card slot.

For light duty tasks such as word processing, watching streaming video and browsing, the HP Pavilion dv6 1230us is a capable machine but when compared to other multimedia laptops, it tends to be somewhat underpowered and weak as it features a 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P6500 CPU. The 12-cell battery has a double battery life if compared to other laptops of the same class. In most cases, the laptop is bought with a 2 year warranty.

The Toshiba Mini NB205-N210, priced at $330 offers very stiff competition for other netbooks such as HP Mini 110 (1030us) and the Acer Aspire One (D250-1165). Ihe Toshiba Mini NB205-N210, priced at $330 offers very stiff competition for other netbooks such as HP Mini 110 (1030us) and the Acer Aspire One (D250-1165). ts size is (10.4-by-8.4-0.8 inches, HWD), save for the extended battery that protrudes outside by a whole inch. It’s the same size as its predecessor the NB205 and thin as the Acer D250-1165. It features a Fusion Edition design which the company uses to overstate a basic in-mold process – plastic infused with various patterns.

Toshiba Mini NB205-N210

The Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 features a 10” widescreen – reason why it’s affordable than other comparable netbooks, but due to the size, the screen is limited to 1024X600 resolution such as in other 10” netbooks like Asus EeePC 1000HE and the HP Mini 110. Compared to its predecessor the NB205, it is slightly cheaper, with the low price coming with a small keyboard. However, some keys such as the Fn, Alt and Control keys are half the size of the normal keys. But on a more positive note, the touchpad and mouse button are the same size as those found on normal size laptops, perfect for constant web surfers.

The manufacturer of the Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 works pretty hard to ensure that all the Toshiba products meet energy conservation and recyclability standards, no wonder it has been rated as a 5.0 energy Star, EPEAT Gold, and its RoHS certified. When it comes to its performance, it features a 1.67GHZ Intel Atom N280 processor, 1 GB memory, 160GB hard disk space, and 5400rpm hard drive, not to mention an Intel GMA of over 950 graphics.

Simply put, the NB205 has all that a netbook should have – offers a good navigating and typing experience, offers a solid performance and of course all the netbook features that one expects. With such a competitive price for a netbook, giants like HP, Acer and Asus have a reason to worry.

After trying out several netbooks, finally, I have found the one and it is the Asus EEEPC 1005HA. It is a great combination of features and performance at a reasonable price.

Some of these great features are a nice keyboard, long lasting battery life, a 10 inch display and an integrated Bluetooth.

You can expect Intel Atom N280 at 1.66 GHz, a 160 GB hard drive and a 1GB RAM. It features an integrated 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n wireless besides Bluetooth. A simple sequence of the function key will change the Bluetooth and wireless on or off individually, thereby saving battery life.

ASUS (1005HA-VU1X-BK) Netbook

Video conferencing becomes easier with the webcam having 1.3 mp resolution just above your screen. The 6 cell 63 WHr battery runs as long as about five to ten hours. However, some models come with a 6 cell 48 WHr battery or even a 3 cell one and that has a shorter run time. Therefore, watch out what you buy.

The layout is simply sleek and cool. The lightweight makes it even better. The front gets slimmer. The look is very clean owing to absence of even a latch. However, the exposed ports do nothing to add to the clean look. Nonetheless they are easier to reach.

You will find the microphone and headphone slots, slot for the multi reader card, 3 USB ports, VGA, security lock and power. All this are in the left and right, the back is left for the battery. Although there is a 6 cell battery provided, you will not find any bulge underneath or even behind it, thanks to great engineering.

You will find great cool blue power, HDD, battery, caps lock and wireless indicators near to the front edge. If you get rid of those useless stickers then you will see the clean wrist rest area.

The hinge on the screen now allows you to move it down and back so that you can align it better with your keyboard. This is a welcome change from the predecessor EEEPC netbooks.

Screen resolution is 1024 x 600 and it bright and good, wide enough to not require any horizontal scroll. If you hide the taskbar for Windows and do not use many toolbars on your web browser then you will find that its vertical resolution is good enough.

You can do well with using Windows XP Home. It will boot and run well. However, avoid loading Vista here, or on any other netbook for that matter. Although I assume that it will run good enough with Windows 7. However, I cannot say that for sure.

If you are an Apple fan, then here is a piece of good news for you. The Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL/A is introduced now. Right from the day it was released first on Amazon, it has become a sensation among laptop owners, so let us see what makes this such an amazing laptop.

The Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL/A is 13.3” and it comes with a 160 GB hard drive, an integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics and a DDR3 RAM of 2GB. A 2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo processor powers it. All this makes it easy to use and very compatible for any daily task.

Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL/A

It features a unibody enclosure that is crafted from a unique aluminum block. This MacBook is leaner (read thinner) and meaner. It is much lighter compared to its predecessor with nonetheless more strength and durability.

Apple is still innovating the design of its body. The LCD panel has been replaced by a 13 inch glass display that is backlit with LED. It also has the Multi-Touch technology of Apple instead of a button in the glass trackpad.

The battery works for as many as 7 hours or even more and that too without adding any weight, thickness or cost. Now, that is a long lasting battery. The battery uses Adaptive Charging as well as advanced chemistry that was introduced first with MacBook Pro, 17 inch, and it recharges 1000 times before reaching 80 per cent of the original capacity. This is one thing to go crazy about.

It is smart, fashionable, which makes it a favorite especially among college students and students in general.

Besides all this, it has a lot of interesting features to offer.

Let us talk about the processor. You can experience an improvement in the energy efficiency. Apart from that, the wireless connectivity is expanded and as I said earlier, the battery life is amazing. The 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor makes the Mac work at a faster speed owing to the 1066 MHz front side bus (FSB) along with a 3 MB L2 cache.

There is a breakthrough design at work in this MacBook. While other notebooks have different parts in their design, the MacBook Pro has a single unibody enclosure.

When it comes to graphics, this MacBook gives a powerful performance owing to the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics processor.

The iSight camera that is conveniently placed inside the glass display enables an trouble-free video conferencing while also allowing you to take your own pictures as well as create your video podcasts.

Apart from all this, it has several additional features too, so no wonder people love it this much!

Netbooks from Acer Aspire One have managed to earn profits for Acer during this time when everybody seems to be running in losses. The reason is the extremely affordable prices of their Acer Aspire One netbooks.

Their affordable price and easy portability make them a great choice for people on the go.

Affordability

The Acer Aspire One D250-1165 is low cost and affordable. This is the latest one in the D250 series. It is 10 inch thick and it balances great features and an affordable price of no more than $300.

Acer Aspire One D250-1165

Do not mistake the low price to be low quality. The reason for such an affordable price is that the Bluetooth has been dropped.

Tough and durable build

The construction appears to be quite strong and it appears to be able to take the blows even if you happen to carry it in a simple book bag and not care a lot about its safety. Of course the glossy surface might show some injury signs, however, apart from that, it is a tough little thing.

Easier to upgrade

It is easier to upgrade in comparison with the original one. You can see three access panels that house the hard drive, RAM, as well as a slot for a mini PCIe card. You can purchase this netbook from the wireless carriers directly depending upon your area’s carriers and data plans.

Keyboard features

The keyboard is interesting with smaller keys. However, that does not make them any less strong or any more wobbly. You will like that keyboard flex is absent.

The finish (something that I did not like!)

This is one thing that I did not appreciate so much about the netbook. This version has glossy plastics just like the original one, covering the top of its screen as well as all of the LCD. Therefore, when you are working in some brightly lit area having many possibilities of causing a glare, then the reflective border can be a bit irritating.

The ports

You can find a great selection of ports in Aspire One D250, especially considering the fact that its chassis has such a thin profile. You can have three USB 2.0 ports, microphone and headphone jacks, a five in one media card reader, a standard VGA out port and Ethernet port. This is one thing that really impressed me because most netbooks generally prefer to sacrifice or compromise on the number of ports simply for achieving a thinner profile.

The newest member of HP’s business line notebook, HP ProBoom 4310s is the thinnest and lightest version, yet it takes most of the features of the much bigger HP notebooks. Its chassis stands out from the crowd and looks more of a road warrior showcasing black lid and a stunning merlot color with a mixture of different texture and is not a finger print magnet.

HP ProBook 4310s is a thin bezel that measures12.8 x 9.0 x 1.1 ” and weights 4.4 pounds. Your eyes will definitely focus on its 13-inch LED lit LCD that has 16:9 ratio and 16M color display that provides a cinematic view . It also features an island-style keyboard that has textured, scratch resistant and spill-proof finished keys. The 1.4×2.8-inch rubber-texture touchpad is large and gives a sufficient amount of friction. All these features deliver simple and clean design.

HP ProBook 4310s

You can also play your favorite music in HP ProBook 4310s. With its High Definition Audio Support that provides clear sound across the room, although it lacks good bass sound, still its loudspeakers deliver more than the average notebook sound quality. The ProBook also provided different port selections; three USB 2.0 ports, a Kensington lock slot, Ethernet and modem jacks, and VGA and HDMI output. And for your low profile mobile broadband, there is ExpressCard/34 slot . All these ports are located on the side of the notebook. While in front of ProBook the 5-in-1 memory card reader and headphone and microphone ports are located.

HP ProBook 4310 also comes with a built in 2.0-megapixel webcam for your VGA videos and still shots. And for you to be able to upload all your videos and stills to the internet, HP ProBook provided a WiFi and BroadCom connectivity.

HP ProBook 4310s is build for small and medium businesses that is why it is packed with 2.8Ghz Intel Core2Duo processor, Mobile Intel Chipset, 4Gb of SDRAM DDR3 memory, 500Gb of SATA HDD and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 graphics card for better and fast transfer of data, making it perfect for everyday office applications. And to protect all your important business data and secure your system, HP provides ProtectTools and Fingerprint Sensor. Plus it throws a Genuine Windows Vista OS for you to enjoy full spectrum of business reliability.

Although the HP ProBook 4310s is packed with high end notebook features, Hp still put an affordable tag price for this machine; making it the brand of choice for small and medium businesses. Plus HP built the 4310s series to be environment friendly by reducing toxic substance in the production of the said notebook.

The Samsung NC10 can only be ranked among top 10-inch notebook laptops such as Lenovo IdeaPad S10, MSI Wind, and the Eec PC 100H. They all share the same specs and features but what stands it out of the crowd is its price as it is fairly priced with a starting price of just $499.

It has 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, and a RAM of 2GB making it a tough and powerful piece of equipment. With these specs, frequent restarting of the laptop is discouraged as it may shorten its life span or worse still damage it completely.

Samsung NC10

Unlike the MSI wind and the Eec PC 100H, Samsung NC10 features a matte lid and well rounded square edges making it visually appealing. There is this impression created by the glowing reddish orange status light and thin artificial orange lines that chances of getting bored as you operate the system are next to zero.

The hard disk space is 120GB and a speed of 5,400rpm, giving you inexhaustible space for storage as well as fast enough speed for data transfer. It weighs 3.4 pounds only, making it portable with no strain. Still on point, the panel of the Samsung NC10.

Does not flex, compared to the flexing Eec PC 100H panel. In addition to feeling the keys and a good keyboard size, this laptop also boasts of well positioned keys.

Other features worth a mention include 3 USB ports, headphone and microphone jacks, 3-in-1 memory card reader, VGA port as well as an Ethernet Jack. While this model doesn’t support an ExpressCard slot to add a mobile broadband modem card, one can always use a very compact USB modem for the same purpose.

Dell launched an extreme high end laptop, with the hardcore gamers as its target customer. M17x Alienware is packed with the amazingly powerful Intel Centerino Core2 Quad Extreme, dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M GPUs, 8 GB of SDRAM memory and 1Tb of hard drive space. This is to ensure that M17x will be the most powerful gaming laptop and the brand of choice for the wealthy gamers.

Dell M17x Alienware

Dell M17x features anodized aluminum body with sharp line details, which gives it a strong, aggressive finished. Although this newer version of M17 sports a brand new look, still it preferred to keep the dramatic keypad illumination effects. With its 17 inch WuxGA LCD Display with dual CCFL back lighting and 920×1200 pixel resolution, you can see stunning colors and bolder imagery. And with QuickTouch control pads you can access everything without those bulky mechanical buttons and controls knobs. The Alienware Quicktouch system gives you the power to control volumes, Bluetooth and WIFI and launch your command center and stealth mode by using touch-capacitive sensors.

Other unique features of Dell M17x Alienware is its Binary GFX and Stealth Mode, which gives you the ability to change the graphic setting from discrete to integrated. It also has the AllienSense, a face-detection software that protects your laptop from unknown users. What’s really cool about this laptop is the personalized plaque placed on the bottom part of the M17x. It is a laser-etched nameplate that contains unique characters only for you.

M17x also comes with a built-in 2.0-megapixel webcam, a digital microphone and a WiFi connection that lets you broadcast yourself to the world.
M17x is not only for gamers alike, it is also for those who love surround and quality entertainment viewing. It has a DVD-RW slot that you can upgrade to dual layer for Blu-Ray disc. Plus it creates a room for DisplayPort, HDMI and VGA-outs, plus audio-out jacks for you to connect external speakers for a surround sound experience. If that doesn’t sound good for you perhaps its four-pin FireWire port, four USB plugs, an eSATA/USB combo port, Express card slot and an eight-in-one Media Card reader located at the side of M17x will. And don’t worry about power consumption, M17x 6 cell battery got it covered, not to mentions the power saving features that M17x has.

With all of powerful features packed in a15.98 by 12.65 by 2.11 inches aluminum case that weighs 11.68 pounds, don’t expect a cheap price. But expect greatness and incredible factors. And prepared yourself to be wowed, because DELL M17x Alienware is not for the faint hearted.
