The layout is simply sleek and cool. The lightweight makes it even better. The front gets slimmer. The look is very clean owing to absence of even a latch. However, the exposed ports do nothing to add to the clean look. Nonetheless they are easier to reach.

You will find the microphone and headphone slots, slot for the multi reader card, 3 USB ports, VGA, security lock and power. All this are in the left and right, the back is left for the battery. Although there is a 6 cell battery provided, you will not find any bulge underneath or even behind it, thanks to great engineering.

You will find great cool blue power, HDD, battery, caps lock and wireless indicators near to the front edge. If you get rid of those useless stickers then you will see the clean wrist rest area.

The hinge on the screen now allows you to move it down and back so that you can align it better with your keyboard. This is a welcome change from the predecessor EEEPC netbooks.

Screen resolution is 1024 x 600 and it bright and good, wide enough to not require any horizontal scroll. If you hide the taskbar for Windows and do not use many toolbars on your web browser then you will find that its vertical resolution is good enough.

You can do well with using Windows XP Home. It will boot and run well. However, avoid loading Vista here, or on any other netbook for that matter. Although I assume that it will run good enough with Windows 7. However, I cannot say that for sure.

The Asus 1005HA offers 1.66 Ghz of processing power. Enough to handle your everyday applications but isn’t recommended for programs that require a large amount of processing power. So gamers, although the 1005HA may look appealing, you may opt for a notebook that can meet your games’ processing needs.

Asus 1005HA Notebook

As far as RAM goes, it comes with 1 GB of virtual memory. So you can run multiple programs simultaneously without a hitch. This can be crucial, because once you a buy a laptop it’s hard to customize it, since opening it and exposing the internal components can be extremely risky. That’s why you need to pick a laptop like the Asus 1005HA that has enough RAM from the start.

One of the 1005HA’s greatest features is its amazingly large hard drive capacity. It comes with a whopping 160 GB hard drive, which is hard to find in laptops these days. A large hard drive capacity is becoming increasingly more important as notebook users are storing more and more information on their computers. There’s nothing more frustrating than constantly being on the fringe of overloading your hard drive because you’ve chosen to buy a laptop with limited hard drive space.

The display on this notebook is about average. It measures 10.1 inches diagonally and displays 1024 x 600 pixels. This notebook is by no means a wide-screen display, but don’t let that get ya down because it allows the weight to stay within an acceptable range. Remember, wide-screen displays are noticeably heaver than their smaller screen counterparts.

Another amazing aspect of this notebook computer is its battery life. The Asus 1005HA carries with it a 63 Whr battery, allowing it to be used for extended periods of time, without having to recharge constantly. This is one thing that Asus always pushes for, longer battery life, and this new notebook doesn’t disappoint.

All in all the Asus 1005HA is a good choice for average notebook users who are always on the go, needing a computer with the proper battery capacity to keep them moving without delay. Its sleek “seashell” like design allows for enough room to give it some higher end components, while still keeping it within an acceptable size and weight range. I can’t wait to see what Asus will come out with next, but the 1005HA will help keep me content till then.
