Once you unwrap the packaging and you will see immediately that it is quite similar to the older models. The QWERTY keyboard is still there and the layout of the buttons looks quite similar. While the size does seem reduced, it is not so reduced to make a big difference.

You will find the keyboard to be quite similar to the previous models. However, the buttons seem to be slightly larger causing the right and left shift keys to be halved.

The middle has the same back, menu and calling button. However, they are bigger and now extend from one edge to another. The pearl at the centre has been replaced by a rubber-like black trackball. This has caused the pearly glow to vanish, which might be a welcome change to some.

The entire design is somewhat smoothed out so that the trackball no longer sits in the cup amidst those buttons. This allows you to scroll about with freedom.

While the left side gives you only a default button for voice control, the right side gives you much more. The camera, Micro-USB slot, 3.5 mm jack and volume are all on the right. The top still has the mute button, however, you also get a hard button for key lock.

If you want to see the real difference then it is all within. The Curve 8900 is now on the 512 MHz processor. Hence, it packs lesser power compared to its Bold big brother. However, it is considerably faster compared to the other models that it has replaced. The things are quite faster now, as you would easily notice.

The camera is now 3.2 mega pixel and has auto focus unit. This makes it better with flash. There are some great touches such that allowing you to go straight to Facebook, of course you do have to install Facebook application. This will be a great feature for those social networkers.

The people at Blackberry have improved upon the design of the older OS, making it much more aesthetically appealing and sleek. The design is complete with all the funky icons that give it a sophisticated and modern appearance. However, there is not much change in the navigation.

There is a big change in its front page though; icons that appeared on the top line now appear as shortcuts on the bottom of your page.

In conclusion, while some things have changed in this new model, the things at the core remain the same and it still remains that BlackBerry that its fans love so much.
